FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any prior diving or spearfishing experience?
No — for most of our programs you don’t. We have beginner packages designed for those new to the ocean, with full instruction and equipment included. For advanced trips, prior experience is helpful and will be discussed during booking.
Where do you operate, and how do I get there?
We are based in Bali, Indonesia — our shop in Uluwatu (inside the Kala Surf Camp) is at Jl. Labuansait No.318, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kab. Badung, Bali, 80361.
What kind of courses and experiences do you offer?
We offer beginner-friendly to advanced experiences in freediving and spearfishing around Bali. For example: “Freedive to 20 m with 2 days of training,” plus open water spearfishing charters. Aquatic Apes During the booking we’ll match you with the right level based on your comfort, previous experience, and goals.
What’s included in a course, and what do I need to bring?
Included: certified instructor guide, gear (mask, fins, snorkel, weight belt) depending on course, local boat/charter access, and safety briefings. You should bring: swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen, a towel, and a positive attitude.
Is spearfishing safe and legal here?
Safety: every trip is guided by professionals, with proper equipment and adherence to local marine safety protocols. Legality: we operate only in approved zones and respect local conservation laws and marine-park regulations — spearfishing is treated as a skilled sport and eco-conscious pursuit.
What is your environmental or sustainability approach?
Our ethos emphasises ocean exploration and conservation. Spearfishing is one of the more selective, low-impact methods of fishing. We advocate sustainable practices — e.g., targeting only legal species, avoiding protected zones, and educating guests about reef health.
How many people per group, and what’s the cancellation/refund policy?
Group sizes vary by trip type; beginner courses tend to be small (to ensure personalised instruction). For cancellation/refund: please see our booking policy at the time of reservation — we generally require advance notice, and may have different rules for liveaboard versus day-trips.
Can I shop for branded gear and apparel?
Absolutely — we have a shop section featuring hats, clothing and accessories. For example: “Yellowfin Tuna Classic Hat” for US $38.
